Neal Barnard discusses tackling diabetes in this uplifting, positive video. He talks about glucose, insulin, fat, our cells and other components to the diabetes puzzle. He discusses how insulin cannot enter muscle cells in someone with diabetes the way they normally should, due to blockage caused by fat. Like a key (insulin) trying to open a lock (cell) but blocked by chewing gum (fat)!
He relates a very interesting 99-person study that eliminated animal fat and lowered vegetable oil, the two sources of fat in the body. They didn’t count carbs or calories, but instead focused on plant-based, good nutrition. The results were amazing! He explains the difference between “dictator” and “committee” genes.
If you or a loved one have worries about diabetes, please watch for a dose of hope!
We love it! Very entertaining too. Check it out….
Currently 100 million Americans are pre-diabetic or diabetic, and one in three kids born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes. Neal Barnard, clinical researcher and founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), identifies the causes of this serious issue and advises us how we can fight these statistics. http://www.nealbarnard.org/
