Dr. John McDougall speaks on healing via dietary starches (rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.). He says it’s starch that’s healed thousands of his patients.
You may have seen him in the documentary FORKS OVER KNIVES. As a physician in Hawaii, he says he realized his limitations as a doctor and his lack of ability to heal people through conventional medicine. He was “humbled” and discovered from his patients, mostly sugar plantation workers on the big island of Hawaii, how to eat. He was “taking care of 5,000 people who ate differently.” Dr. McDougall witnessed a first generation that ate rice and vegetables; no dairy and just a little bit of meat. They were “thin, healthy, hearty, young-looking.” He also witnessed second and third generations that tended to eat more of the western diet and were not healthy.
Dr. McDougall’s studies and findings are fascinating and revealing.
